Local food has become very trendy.  There are plenty of good arguments in favor of the local food movement, many regarding protecting the environment and a way of life for small farmers.  But does eating locally grown foods benefit our health?

Alice Ammerman, director of the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and professor of nutrition in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, will discuss her research on the connections between sustainable local food and health on Thursday, October 14 from 7-9 pm at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill.
