Andrew Perrin Ph.D.: Conceptualizing and Measuring Culture for Health-Related Investigation

- Dr. Perrin is an associate professor and the associate chair of sociology at UNC-Chapel Hill. He also serves as the Chair-Elect of the Theory Section of the American Sociological Association (ASA). Dr. Perrin has done extensive work on the sociology of culture, and much of his research focuses cultural health and the links between culture and political behavior. His current studies include “Systematic Cultural Observation: A Method for Measuring Health Related Culture & Obesity,” as well as a new transdisciplinary NCI/NLM R24 on culture and health, titled “Pass the Popcorn: Children’s Perception of ‘Obesogenic’ Culture in Movies.”
