North Carolina Communities Working in Partnership, a coalition of community-based organizations from around the state which have partnered with the Kellogg Health Scholars Program at the University of North Carolina, is hosting a FREE Policy Advocacy Workshop.
The workshop will engage participants in activities to develop understanding about the basic principles of the policy process and identify effective strategies for bringing about policy change. The training will address topics such as: the definition of policy and policy advocacy, the difference between policy change and programs/interventions, steps in developing a policy advocacy campaign, power mapping, communicating your message to win policy change, and selecting policy advocacy strategies. The training format is highly interactive, involving a number of experiential learning activities based on examples that affect local communities in North Carolina.
The training is open to anyone interested in learning more about how to implement change through policy.
