Black Farmland Loss Needs Assessment
Project Title
Black Farmland Loss Needs Assessment
Funding Dates
1/2010-12/2010
Description
The Black Farmland Loss Needs Assessment was conducted to determine whether land preservation needs exist for Black farmers in North Carolina and the extent to which mental health needs exist due to the stress of fighting to maintain farmland. The needs assessment aimed to fill the gap by providing information to determine: (1) whether land preservation needs, such as legal consultation, were being met, and if not, what needs exist, and (2) the extent of mental health issues being experienced by Black farmers, especially those related to the loss of their land.
