Description
The Center TRT’s mission was to enhance the public health impact of state and community obesity prevention efforts by providing the training and evidence public health practitioners need to improve nutrition and physical activity behaviors, environments, and policies in ways that are equitable, efficient, and sustained over time. The Center TRT’s main functions were to (1) advance the skills of public health practitioners working in obesity prevention programs through a variety of in-service education opportunities; (2) identify, translate and disseminate evidence supporting environmental and policy change to increase healthy eating and physical activity; (3) provide a framework and guidance for evaluating programs and policies targeting environmental and behavioral obesity-related outcomes; and (4) support public health practitioners in addressing social determinants of health and health equity through training and translation.
