Description

Healthy Me, Healthy We Logo

Healthy Me, Healthy We is a randomized, controlled research project that will evaluate a 7-month social marketing campaign designed to encourage and support physical activity and healthy eating habits in children attending child care and their adult caregivers. The study will reach approximately 86 child care centers, 344 child care professionals, and 860 child/parent dyads across North Carolina; roughly half of the centers will be randomized into the program. Centers will implement the Our Year of Healthy Living program in their classrooms over the course of a school year (October-April). The program will use visual cues, educational materials, activities, and a song to deliver targeted healthy behavior messages that connect the teacher, child, and parents. The primary outcomes are non-sedentary time measured via accelerometry and diet quality assessed using the Healthy Eating Index. This is a project of the Children’s Healthy Weight Research Group (CHWRG).
