Maihan Vu is a public health researcher and practitioner with expertise in qualitative research methods. She collaborates on several different research studies, from community-based projects focused on behavior changes for conditions such as CVD and smoking, to program evaluation of state and national policies on physical activity and nutrition. Dr. Vu also focuses her work in clinical health services research. She examines patient reported outcomes (PROs) and factors that affect decision making between providers and patients related to cancers and various chronic conditions. Dr. Vu provides qualitative research advice in the design, conduct, and analysis for research projects. She engages multiple stakeholders as a skilled interviewer and focus group facilitator and helps research teams translate participants’ experiences into meaningful practice and action.
Dr. Vu holds a DrPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MPH from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has more than 20 years of experience in qualitative research methods and is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, book chapters, and presentations.
