Dr. Bell is the Fred Eshelman Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Dr. Bell’s primary research interests focus on racial and ethnic disparities in chronic disease management and control. Dr. Bell is an enrolled member of the Lumbee tribe of eastern North Carolina and serves as chair of the North Carolina American Indian Health Board (NC AIHB) and co-leads the Southeastern American Indian Cancer Health Equity Partnership (SAICEP), a unique collaboration initiated by the Community Outreach and Engagement teams at the NCI Comprehensive Cancer Centers at Duke, UNC Lineberger and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, with a focus on understanding and addressing the cancer-related health needs of American Indian communities in the Southeastern US. The partnership offers culturally competent research, education and community engagement for American Indian tribal communities.

Dr. Bell is also a member of the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control (NC ACCCC) and co-chairs the NC ACCCC Prevention subcommittee.
