Communities on the Move
Starting in 2018, the Communities on the Move program facilitated the creation of social environments that promote youth civic engagement and physical activity among nearly 100 community members across three distinct, underfunded, and disenfranchised neighborhoods in Orange County, NC. Since then, we have engaged multi-sector stakeholders and learned from community members to make walking, biking, transit, public places, parks, and healthy food more accessible for people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
In 2022, the Fairview Youth in Action interns compiled their community learnings into a formal plan, “Activate,” that outlines specific goals, objectives, and recommendations to improve the Fairview neighborhood. Take a look at the report here:
